A celebration of popular Japanese and Western characters in costume!
Many people attending the London MCM Expo dress as their favourite characters. Elves mingle with Ninja from the Hidden Villages and Jedi, making the event full of colour and life.
Why not come in a costume from your favourite TV show, film, comic, videogame or anime yourself? Take part and join in the fun! COSPLAY POINT:
Run by friendly and experienced cosplayers the cosplay point returns for tickets to watch the masquerade, weapons checking, emergency costume repairs, and helpful advice found! Get changed into costume in the nearby changing rooms and leave bulky bags and delicate (and oversized!) accessories while enjoying the Expo*.
MASQUERADE:
Marvel at the craftsmanship in some amazing handmade costumes, enjoy the short skits and performances, or get on stage  and feel the thrill of displaying your hard work to the audience- whether you like dressing up in costume or just want to watch, the masquerade offers entertainment for all.
The masquerade is a costume competition that will take place on the main stage in the afternoon of both days of the Expo and there are some great prizes to be won for the most talented entrants!
Tickets to watch are FREE once you have entered the London MCM Expo and available from the Cosplay Desk.
There are a limited number of places for people and groups wanting to take part – so if you want to take part in the masquerade we recommend you register online promptly when advance registrations OPEN.
Spaces have been known to fill up in less than 48 hours! See the forms and guides on the right for more information.
A small number of places will be available on each day of the Expo as well, and these will be issued on a first come, first served basis.
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR PERFORMANCES:
Audio tracks must be submitted in advance. It is strongly recommended that you prerecord any performance or skit, as microphones will not be available. Unsure how to go about this? Please do ask us for advice – see the contact information at the bottom of the page.

*Items are left at MCM Expo's discretion and can be refused, we will not accept responsibility for any loss or damage to items, when you hand in the item that you want to store it will be placed in a black bag and secured until you return. Once taken out of the storage area the luggage can not be returned the same day. COSPLAY BALL 2008 MCM Expo are very happy to announce the First 'London MCM Expo Cosplay Ball' to take place during the Saturday evening of Expo 25th October 08 at the Novotel which can be found on Westside of the Excel campus. SOLD OUT!
The Novotel offers a great location with views of the water from it's large open balcony and easy access for those both staying on and off site.
Below is just a little of what will be happening during the First 'London MCM Expo Cosplay Ball'
The evening will start off with formal music as requested by the many emails that we have received since announcing the Ball. As the evening progresses we will have 2 GREAT Live bands to Entertain you!
| PROJECT 37 MCM Expo believe in supporting members of the MCM Expo community and in that vein we are happy to announce PROJECT 37 will be playing Live. PROJECT 37 is a band headed by your very own Sean Bonner, Sean is a Moderator on the MCM Expo forums and well known to you all! The band plays Rock/Ambient/Metal.We look forward to welcoming them to the London MCM Expo Ball. |  | SOMA We are very happy to to announce the main band for the evening 'SOMA'. SOMA are the only actual Japanese Visual kei/J-rock band in Europe! Band members are Hymn (from Tokyo Japan: Vocal, Guitar), Tomo (from Nagoya Japan: Guitar, Synthesiser, Rhythm sequence programming, Producing and Mixing). |

DRESS CODE:
The London MCM Expo Cosplay Ball's dress code is Cosplay or smart/elegant dress only.
We encourage all styles of Cosplay to be at the event, so this means that you can be wizard or a witch, an original character or anything
else as long as you come well presented!
We will not be allowing jeans, trainers, tracksuits, shorts, t-shirts even if they are part of your costume.

WEAPONS AND PROPS:
For the comfort of others and of course for security reasons we will not be allowing anyone to carry realistic replica weapons such as fake guns, swords or knives.
We will have someone checking props when you arrive and if it is deemed unsuitable you will be asked to give it up for storage until you leave.
AGE LIMIT:
The age range for attendees has been very intensely discussed and we have come to following criteria:
16 Years old and above.
14 and 15 Year olds allowed if accompanied by a Parent or Guardian who will take sole responsibility for them and be in attendance at all times! |
