The DFC at The London MCM Expo

DFC London MCM ExpoWhat is the DFC?

The DFC is a new weekly comic delivered to your home every Friday. It’s 36 pages of the best original comic stories from some of the greatest writers and artists in the world!

What is its goal? For too long have the children of Britain been denied a basic right of child-kind… a weekly comic rammed with great stories, fiendish puzzles and great competitions. The DFC is hopefully all this and more. Come and meet some of the writers and artists behind The DFC. Some will be signing pieces of artwork, others will be drawing live so you can see how they create their characters and stories. Plus if anyone turns up dressed as a DFC character they will win a special prize! More info to come.

Charlie Higson, Kev Walker, & Puffin Books @ London MCM ExpoSilverfin Charlie Higson Comic Village MCM Expo

Silverfin The Graphic Novelby Charlie Higson and Kev Walker

See Young Bond in action for the very first time, explosively illustrated by Kev Walker of Marvel Comics.

Charlie & Kev will be attending the Puffin Books stand signing copies of Silverfin.

It’s James Bond’s first day at Eton, and already he’s met his first enemy. This is the start of an adventure that will take him from the school playing fields to the remote shores of Loch Silverfin and a terrifying discovery that threatens to unleash a new breed of warfare.

Praise for Silverfin:‘A page-turning adventure that will get the hairs standing up on the back of your neck’ – Sunday Express  ‘Good, gritty and funny . . . Very clever, Bon, very clever indeed’ – Daily Mail  ‘Would have made Ian Fleming proud’ – Daily Telegraph  ‘More action, more demented crime and more flesh-crawling deaths than ever before’ – Observer  Charlie Higson is author of five Young Bond books which have, to date, sold over three-quarters of a million copies in the UK and been translated into 24 different languages. The Young Bond titles are included in a recent list of books complied by the Department for Children, Schools and Families and the School Libraries Association to encourage school boys to read (http://www.boysintobooks.co.uk/).

Charlie also contributed to the World Book Day / Evans Schools competition this year which challenged children across the country to write their own short stories. After studying at the University of East Anglia, Charlie formed a band, The Higsons. He then became a decorator before turning to the world of television and going into partnership with his friend Paul Whitehouse. Their successes included Saturday Live, the Harry Enfield Television Programme, The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer, Shooting Stars, Randall and Hopkirk Deceased, the film Suite 16, Swiss Toni and The Fast Show.

Charlie is also a successful adult novelist and has written four thrillers, King of the Ants (1992), Happy Now (1993), Full Whack (1995) and Getting Rid of Mr Kitchen (1996).

Charlie lives in London with his wife and three sons.

Published by Puffin Books in paperback 2nd October 2008 priced £9.99
