ANDIE TONG - Deemon Productions

Andie Tong makes a welcome return to the London MCM Expo and 'Comic Village @ Expo' this coming May 08.

Andie is now the Main artist for Spiderman in the UK with Panini, Marvel licensed comics for the UK.

Andie attended his 1st London MCM Expo to meet fans and sketch in May 06.
Andie’s comic industry work includes sequentials for the titles Spectacular Spiderman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Khenan: Mad Secret, Noble Causes, Masters of the Universe: Rise of the Snakemen, and pin ups in Blade of the Immortal and Bloodrayne.

Andie has also done commercial work for Nike, Mforma, Universal, CBS, Mattel’s Duelmasters game, and illustrations for “Exalted” fantasy gaming books.

Andie is part of a creative unit of fellow artists and creators from Chimaera Studios.
















LEE TOWNSEND

Lee Townsend began working in the comics industry in 1990 on childrens titles for London Editions.

He then went on to work in animation for several years for Disney and Dreamworks.

After leaving the world of animation he returned to Comics working for 2000ad on Judge Dredd, Sinister Dexter, Breathing space and later for DC (Hellblazer) Image comics (Kin), more recently he can be found working on Spectacular Spider-Man for Marvel.

Lee is currently working for Panini whilst also having a story in developement with 2000ad, as well storyboards for a 2d animated tv series.









HENRY DAVIES

Henry has been a professional comics artist for over 30 years, he started while everybody else was still at school!

Working mostly with famous British comics THE BEANO and THE DANDY drawing all of their characters including DESPERATE DAN, DENNIS THE MENACE, THE BASH STREET KIDS and KORKY THE CAT.

Also with MARVEL COMICS where he created, wrote, drew, inked and lettered GROTTY LOTTY THE SCHOOLGIRL WITCH.

One of his 10 page DENNIS THE MENACE episodes is at the end of the latest 2007 Beano book. It's the one about Dennis the ringmaster and you'll know it's his because he has written his name as big as he could get away with in the first picture.

Having had more newspaper cartoon strip characters published than any other cartoonist and at one time I 8 running simultaneously in national newspapers, the most successful is FOR MEDICINAL PURPOSES ONLY which started in the top British paper DAILY STAR and was soon being syndicated.

At the moment Henry is putting together an album of these strips which will be on sale in French and Norwegian as well as English.

Currently Henry is drawing a science fiction comic with some stories drawn in ink as well as others just in pencil and one story with all the pictures painted in oils.

EAGLE AWARD NOMINATED MODERN MONSTROSITY ATTENDS MAY 08 LONDON MCM EXPO

Modern Monstrosity consists of Laurence Powell and Oliver Lambden.

Lawrence and Oliver are the creators of the Eagle Award nominated ‘Tales from the flat’.

Tales from the flat’ is an action/adventure sit-com comic book charting the adventures of four life long friends and their struggle to live with each other as well as contending with possessed kebab shop owners, robot-suit clad neighbours, chav ninjas and seedy gangsters.

DAVID HINE

David Hine has written several series for Marvel Comics, including Daredevil:Redemption, District X, The 198, Civil War: X-Men, Son of M and Silent War.

He is currently writing Spawn every month for Image and the manga series Poison Candy for Tokyopop.

His graphic novel Strange Embrace is now being serialised in colour every month from Image.

Puffin Books will be attendance at the upcoming October 2007 London MCM Expo to showcase the graphic novel adaptation of hit book 'Artemis Fowl'

Also in attendance over the 2 days will be the author of the best selling series of books Eoin Colfer and Andrew Donkin.

The Graphic Novel is the entire first Artemis Fowl book in comicbook form.

It follows true to the novel and has been adapted by Eoin Colfer and Andrew Donkin who has had many books published and has worked on the Batman comics, the artwork is by Giovanni Rigano, who worked on The Incredibles Graphic Novels, and the colour is by Paolo Lamanna.

IAN SHARMAN

Ian Sharman is a writer, Inker, Colorist, Letterer and CG artist who has recently been making a name for himself within the industry. He has worked on titles such as 'Bloodstain' and 'Young Gods: Slash & Burn,' from OrangUtan Comics and Smoke & Mirror, Shadowmancer, The Flying Friar, and Heretic from AAM/Markosia.

He is currently working on a 46 page Young Gods OGN and his personal baby, Slam Ridley from OrangUtan Comics.













DAN BOULTWOOD

Born in 1980 in London, Dan studied in illustration at college. Upon graduation he worked for the UK publisher ‘Com.X’ as a concept designer where he began to develop the style he is known for today. In 2004, the Laird began writing and drawing for the UK publisher AP Comics, firstly on a creator title called Comicana which he both wrote and illustrated, before starting a run on the AP Comics series Monster Club.

In 2005 Daniel worked together with Tony Lee on their co-created series The Gloom, which would subsequently be released with AAM Markosia. In 2006, he illustrated the illustronovella The Tizzle Sisters And Eric, written by G.P Taylor, while also working as an online flash games developer for the London based company ‘Naked Penguin Boy’, working for companies such as ‘DreamWorks’ and ‘Warner Brothers’.

Dan is currently illustrating the AAM Markosia’ series Hope Falls, Lives in London and has a cat.


RICH JOHNSTON

Richard Johnston the no.1 comic book gossip columnist in the world. Reporting on the behind-the-scenes goings on from Manhattan to Tokyo, he's covered the scandals and scoops, the egos and eggs on faces that go to prove the comics industry is like any other entertainment business - just with less money. TONY LEE

Tony Lee: A writer for over twenty years, Tony Lee started his career in games journalism and magazine articles. Moving into radio in the early nineties (primarily BBC and then commercial), Tony spent over ten years working internationally for a variety of television, radio and magazines as a feature and script writer, winning several awards doing so.

In 2003 he returned to comic writing, and since then has written for Marvel Comics, Walker Books, AAM/Markosia Entertainment, Panini Comics and Titan Publishing, for properties such as X-Men, Amazing Fantasy, Doctor Who, Starship Troopers, Wallace & Gromit and Shrek.

His creator owned work is critically acclaimed, with Midnight Kiss nominated for an Eagle Award in 2006. With 'Two Drunk Guys In A Bar' partner Dan Boultwood he has created The Gloom for APC and in 2006 he adapted G.P. Taylor's The Tizzle Sisters and Eric with Dan on art.

His upcoming work includes Hope Falls for AAM/Markosia (again with Dan Boultwood) which they will both be signing at the London MCM Expo, Dodge & Twist for AiT/PlanetLar, Warrior Nun Areala: Excommunicated for Antarctic Press, Robin Hood: Outlaw's Pride and the comic adaption of Anthony Horowitz's Raven's Gate series by Walker Books.

He is also an accomplished lecturer and often performs at festivals and libraries.

Tony is appearing in conjunction with AAM/Markosia Entertainment both days.

DOUG BRAITHWAITE

UK-based artist Doug Braithwaite's long career in comics began in the 80s with his first work for Marvel UK on the long-running series, Action Force.
Since then, he has become a fixture on the comics scene and now works on the Earth X and Paradise X books for Marvel Comics, one of the best-selling comics in the industry today.












BILLY TUCCI

Billy Tucci is an award-winning illustrator, writer and filmmaker best known for his modern-day samurai fable Shi. Through Billy’s Crusade Fine Arts, the multi-Eisner Award nominated Shi has been printed in four languages, has sold more than 4 million comic books and grossed over 25 million dollars worldwide.

Shi has been featured on every major American TV network while also garnering praise in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and USA Today. The character has also crossed over with many comic book icons including Daredevil, Witchblade and Wolverine.

Last year, Billy went “mainstream” with his hugely successful run on Marvel Comics’ Heroes For Hire, DC’s VS cards , the release of the massive 576 page Definitive Shi and penning the critically acclaimed Zombie-sama! (to be released in full color in October) with illustrator John Broglia. 2007 marks Shi’s 13th Anniversary with Billy working on his newest miniseries The Ring of Fire. Dark Horse Comics is also producing a new 200-page hardbound Art of Shi coffee table book showcasing the very best talents in comics.

Producer Mimi Polk Gitlin’s Lion Eyes Entertainment (Open Range, Trapped) has recently optioned Shi for a major motion picture. Billy is writing the screenplay with Kevin Bernhardt and will serve as Executive Producer.

MARK SPARACIO

Mark Sparacio studied sequential art for three years under the legendary Will Eisner at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. While still in school, Sparacio received his first job to do a painting for the movie poster for the United Artist film, “The Draughtsman’s Contract”, which led to a long run as a freelance illustrator in the advertising industry. As the market for illustration collapsed, the door opened for Sparacio to go back to the medium that is his first love: comic books.

As well as doing painted covers for Billy Tucci’s “Shi”, D.C. comic’s “Green Lantern”, Comic’s Buyers Guide and Alter Ego, Sparacio has landed his first Marvel work, painting covers for “Heroes for Hire” in addition to the covers for Comics Values Annual 2007 and 2008 and The Overstreet Price Guide for 2007 and 2008.

He has done paintings for card sets for UpperDeck /DC comics and Topps’ “Wacky Packages” and “Garbage Pail Kids”. Sparacio is currently penciling and doing painted covers for “Liberty Girl” for Heroic Publishing and has co-plotted along with his good friend, Richard Martin (script) issues #4, #5 and #7. The Martin (scripts)/Sparacio (painted covers and interior pencils) creative team, has also been contracted by Heroic Publishing to produce a three issue mini-series, “The Huntsman”, an action-adventure, espionage thriller.

He is also developing his own Sci-Fi/superhero comic and hopes to find a publisher soon. Sparacio lives with his wife and two sons on Long Island, New York.

3 of the UK's best know artists will be joining Comic Village @ Expo. Doing commissions and selling orginal art work.



STAZ JOHNSON

Staz is currently in the middle of a 3 year exclusivity deal for Marvel comics (USA), although he has been given permission to deviate from that contract briefly for his most recent work... the online comics for the NBC website which accompany the Heroes TV show.

He got his start working on magazines which covered the then-burgeoning fantasy role playing games industry. From there he got work at Marvel UK where he worked on weekly comic book series such as Transformers and Action Force. During this period Staz's first work was published in the US in Marvel Comics G.I. Joe European Missions in 1989; however this was not original work - the series reprinted his Marvel UK Action Force material.

In 2003 he returned to Marvel, and it is at that publisher that most of his work has since been published. Titles he has contributed to include Wolverine (2003), Doctor Octopus: Negative Exposure #1 (2003), Spider-Man 2: The Movie (2004), New X-Men (2004), Underworld (2006), Cable & Deadpool (2006) and Civil War: War Crimes (2007).

MARK DOS SANTOS

Residing in Los Angeles, Mark Dos Santos has worked for Inkworks on various projects.

He has drawn sketch cards for Robots the Movie, Family Guy Seasons One and Two, Hellboy Animated: Sword of Storms and recently he finished cards for Shrek the 3rd.

He has also done comic work contributing to books such as Monkey vs. Lemur for Silent Devil, Johnny Repeat for Citizen Press and this past March Unusual Suspects from Top Cow.
